Mind Fest 2018 line up announced and tickets now available

MIND in Furness is proud to announce the third Millom MindFest set to rock the town this month using music to raise mental health awareness.

Popular local band Rhythm Dead Lady will be headlining supported by The Jahm, Right Turn Clyde, Millom vocalists Josh and Tom, The Next Stop and local poets John Tucker and Stephanie Sorrell for what promises to be one of the biggest music events in the town this year.
Tickets, costing £7.50, are on sale now at the Beggars Theatre and The Mind shops, in Barrow and Millom. They are also on sale at Mind in Furness head office on School Street.
All proceeds from the September 22nd event will be used by Mind in Furness in the Millom community to tackle mental health issues and raise awareness.
The origins of Mind Fest
Mind in Furness Chief Office Karen Dobson said: “MindFest was the brainwave of one of our service users who is a musician and artist and who understands the importance of creativity as an outlet for helping manage poor mental health.
“He used his music connections to set up the first MindFest which was a showcase of local talent and service users who felt confident enough to contribute. It was held at the Beggars Theatre which is a fantastic local venue and was a big success thanks to the Management of the Beggars, the acts and everybody who came along and contributed to the evening.
“This year we would like to build on the success of the previous years and are pleased that we have been able to attract a great line-up, sponsorship from Tosh Steel Fabrications and Groundworks, of Millom, and once again the support of Jackie and the team at Beggars Theatre.
“We hope this event can become an annual occurrence, it’s a wonderful opportunity to raise funds for our work in Millom supporting local people who are experiencing poor mental health but also a chance to raise awareness and make people aware of the effects of poor mental health and it’s also an opportunity for people to come together be sociable, enjoy each other’s company and enjoy some great music.”
Raising mental health awareness
Mind in Furness Crisis Support Worker and MindFest organisor Kenny Tyson, from Millom, said: “MindFest is a good opportunity to raise awareness of mental health and the services we provide in Millom. We so grateful to all the acts who have come on board and supported Mind by giving their time for free and are so enthusiastic about being involved.
“It means a lot to me to help provide and bring more services to Millom adding to the fantastic support already provided by other organisations in Millom.”
